Food: The Rookie Melt
I was having a particularly sad Monday and wanted a classic grilled cheese to bring me out of my doldrums. So I opted for the Rookie Melt – Vermont cheddar and vine ripened tomato. It was perfectly melted with so much butter I could feel my arteries clogging and immediately made me happy (along with the company I was with – thanks guys!) My first suggestion for Roxy’s – offer bacon as an option on the Rookie. I think many people would opt for that. On the side, I had a taste of the truffle fries. While I do enjoy truffles, I often can only handle a few bites so for my second suggestion, I think Roxy’s should offer a fries option without the extras. I also got the lemonade of the day, which was a bit too tart for me. Overall I loved Roxy’s and plan to go back often, but think some minor adjustments to the menu would bring them up to 5 stars for me.

I only vaguely remember what I ordered, because apparently it was a summer-only option. (Sidenote: I cannot wait to try the Fall Melt!) But it had mushrooms, spinach, roasted red peppers and muenster/cheddar/some fairly neutral cheese. And it was quite delicious. All their sandwiches are made to order, so it was very fresh. And let’s be honest: bread, cheese and butter? I’m in. I’m always in. But it was obviously very healthy, with all those veggies. So I didn’t even need to feel guilty about it. Wins all around. I’ve also tried the handcut truffle fries (thanks to Kyle,) and those are some tasty fries. For a food truck, I’d say we had pretty speedy service, as well. And even though poor Matt had to say Matt D. because another Matt had just placed an order, the people who worked there were very nice.
